Presence with a purpose…
I am a formally trained clinician, graduate level professor, and ordained minister who brings a wealth of experience from a variety of academic, ministry and clinical settings. For twenty years, I have provided a safe, positive, hope-filled space for individuals, couples, and families who deal with issues related to severe mental illness, depression, anxiety, gender, sexuality, grief/loss, divorce, domestic/intimate partner violence, spirituality, relationships, and personal growth and development.
I received my Masters of Divinity from the Divinity School of Duke University, my Doctorate of Theology and Marriage and Family Therapy training from the Candler School of Theology of Emory University and an advanced certificate in Clinical Supervision from the Smith College School of Social Work. My education and training reflect an integration of psychotherapy and theology-spirituality studies which means that I approach my work from a holistic perspective. I assess health and wellness in mental, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual dimensions. It is my belief that many individuals approach life with beliefs and practices that inform their decisions, perspectives, and experiences. As a result, I invite clients at different points in the therapeutic process to examine how these beliefs and practices are related to their current mental and emotional issues and life circumstances.
When not working, I can be found hiking with my dog, Ellie, and my partner; planning my next big trip; or waiting for college football season.
